Postnatal Doula

Babies and new Mums have much to learn about each other, particularly in relation to breastfeeding and sleep patterns. The first few days and week with a newborn baby should be a very rewarding life experience for a family. It often needs support, patience and understanding.

As a Postnatal Doula, I will do whatever I can to make this a special time for Mums and their babies. This comes in many forms… sometimes Mums like me to make the house look and feel normal again so they can just focus on their newborn. I am also happy to look after other siblings and help them feel happy and secure too.

Often the time a partner or husband returns to work is the most difficult for a new Mum and it can feel very isolating. Sometimes Mums just need to talk to another adult and know that they are doing just fine!

Whatever your particular need is, I will do my best to help you. Sometimes just having a couple of hours sleep knowing someone is there looking after your baby, is enough.

I am fully insured and hold a current DBS certificate.

“With a very alert baby who didn't sleep well during the day, I was struggling when my husband went back to work after the first few weeks. This is when I found Fern. Despite the late notice Fern managed to pop over for a few hours a day to watch Chloe and allow me to put my head down for a much needed kip, or bring in the washing which had been on the line for days! She is very friendly and natural with babies, I'd definitely recommend her postnatal services (And she also makes a good cuppa!).”

“I was looking for someone to give me postnatal support, because I had c-section and I didn't have any family in UK. I needed someone to help me out and also support me emotionally. Fern is a really nice and kind hearted woman, who supported me in all aspects, she is warm and I could connect with her easily.”

“Fern was invaluable during her two weeks that she spent with me and my 6 week old son, George. Due to complications with a c-section delivery, I was pretty useless and couldn't drive or do much for myself. Fern was a daily highlight as she helped to take us for our 8 week check ups and suggested trying a couple of baby groups. Fern made me lunch and cups of tea and took over when I needed to rest. Fern was incredibly efficient in her time with us and even tackled the kitchen drawers which were full of rubbish and hadn't been sorted since we moved. George absolutely adored Fern and we were able to strike up a fantastic rapport. Highly recommended and would not hesitate to hire again. Maybe next time for the birth experience!”

“Fern helped us for the first few weeks after the arrival of our twins. She was a great support, really flexible and happy to do whatever she could - which was a great help while I was recovering and finding my feet. ”
